VANCOUVER EASTSIDE MISSING WOMEN |
The
beginning of the DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER-eastside website This website started about three to four months after Sarah deVries, a friend, disappeared. It started as a personal web page through one of the free sites. It was a way of doing, for me, something positive. About that time I was doing searches on the Internet on missing people and adding Sarah’s photo and information to all different missing person websites. I posted into newsgroups as the number of missing women continued to increase. It became clear that a larger website was necessary to archive the many media articles on the disappearances. I talked it over with friends and then decided to register a domain name and start a larger site. The domain name was http://www.missingpeople.net The website would be about the eastside women who had been involved in drugs and the sex trade and vanished without a trace. This website DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER-eastside is in memory of Sarah and the other missing women in the downtown eastside. They have disappeared and we mourn and remember them. And so it has continued on from there. It came together in January 1999. I have had the support of many of the families for this site and that has inspired me to continue. Search
