Fundraiser walk for missing women
CAMPBELL RIVER/ CKNW (AM980) -- The families of the missing women are
holding a fund-raising walk on Vancouver Island from Campbell River to Courtenay
this weekend to raise money for the Missing Women's Legacy Society.
Funds will help improve a support recovery house the group wants to set up in
Maple Ridge.
That project will cost up to $600,000.

The families of the downtown eastside's missing women are holding a fund-raising walk on Vancouver Island this weekend.
They hope to raise money to build a safe house for disadvantaged women, with a walk that will take place from Campbell River to Courtenay.
The Missing Women's Legacy Society wants to build the recovery house in Maple Ridge.
Most of the women who have disappeared from the impoverished Vancouver neighbourhood were drug-addicted prostitutes, and organizers hope to create a safe haven so they can get off the streets.
The project is expected to cost up to $600,000.
