News website looking for sex trade workers to report on Pickton trial Vancouver Sun Wednesday, January 03, 2007 It's expected to be one of the biggest stories of 2007, and media from far and wide will soon be descending on the Lower Mainland for the upcoming trial of Robert Pickton. A Vancouver-based website is taking a different approach to covering the case. The news site Orato hopes to recruit sex trade workers to report on the trial of the accused serial killer and it's offering an unpaid internship. Editor in chief Paul Sullivan says they're looking for somebody who can add something extra to the coverage, such as somebody who's lived that life and may have known some of the victims. Sullivan adds the whole idea of the site is to encourage people to produce a personal account of stories and events from around the world. He also says they're looking for people who are involved in the story so they can create a compendium of subjective, instead of objective journalism. A couple of people interested in covering the trial have already contacted the site. Source: News1130 © Vancouver Sun 2007 Orato: True stories from real people |
